Artistic Statement

I write fiction in the form of short stories, novels and vignettes. I am interested in exploring our humanity, in terms of human beings being spirits, free from identity, that are locked inside physical bodies, that are tagged with identity. I create portraits that examine identity, especially gender and specifically the male gender. I feel there is a limited view we have on the meanings we assign to manhood and the privileges these allow. I focus on memory, ancestry, spiritual worlds, feminism and grief in order to explore these themes.
